Philosophy of Tradition of Buddhism that influenced Thai Society

Abstract

This article aims to: 1) To study the history of Buddhism in Thailand. 2) To study the history of Thai tradition. 3) To study the Buddhist philosophy that influenced Thai society. The study found that: 1) Buddhism appeared in Thai society since 500 B.E. in the land was called Suvarnabhumi that known well as Indochina Peninsula in this day. The area of Thailand was the center of Suvarnabhumi at that time. Early Buddhism was a Theravada Buddhism which Ashoka the Great and the Mahayana people respected. 2) Thai traditions are related to the life of Thai people since their entire life. 3) Buddhist traditions influenced Thai society, therefore, general Thai people was calm, benevolent, benevolent, kind, humble, grateful, industrious, patient, polite and unselfish, all those influenced by the tenets of Buddhism.
