Sangahavatthu: The Principles of Service and Social Welfare

Abstract

The principles of social welfare are based on loving-kindness, compassion, and concern to other people in society. Likewise, Sangahavatthu is the principle that promotes mutual welfare in order to achieve mental anchorage and to cause unity and peace in society. Sangahavatthu comprises 1) charity is giving; 2) kindly speech is the good and useful suggestion with polite words; 3) useful conduct is to make oneself useful 4) even and equal treatment is to behave oneself properly and consistently. When people help each other with the principles of Sangahavatthu, this will make them live together harmonizably in society, and help each other so that the peace in society can appear.
