Public Satisfaction towards the Operations of Traffic Police Officers at Kaeng Khoi Police Station, Saraburi Province

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to: 1) investigate problems in the operations of traffic police officers working at Kaeng Khoi Police Station, Saraburi Province, 2) explore factors affecting the public satisfaction towards their operations, and 3) provide recommendations, policies, and approaches for the improvement of the public satisfaction. The research employed mixed methods. 398 samples aged 18 years and over and living in the area under the supervision of Kaeng Khoi Police Station, Saraburi Province, were obtained through specific sampling. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire, and qualitative data were collected from 7 key informants who were police officers responsible for traffic operations through in-depth interviews. The findings revealed that the overall public satisfaction towards the traffic police officers’ operations was at a highest level. All aspects were at highest levels, except giving information which was at a high level. Police checkpoint displayed the highest mean, followed by traffic law enforcement, traffic control, and giving information to the public, respectively. The public satisfaction varied according to gender, age, marital status, education level, occupation, monthly income, vehicle type, and length of driving time. Traffic control, police checkpoint, traffic law enforcement, and giving information to the public were significantly different with a significance level of .05.
