The Integration of The Buddhist Ethics on the Social Work Treating Development of Thai Buddhist Monks in the Digital Society

Abstract

The objectives of this research paper were to: 1) study the concept of the social work treating development of Thai Buddhist monks in the digital society. 2) study the Buddhist ethics on the social work treating development. 3) integrate the Buddhist ethics on the social work treating development of Thai Buddhist monks in the digital society. 4) create a new body of knowledge and model of integrating the Buddhist ethics on the social work treating development of Thai Buddhist monks in the digital society. This research was a qualitative one based on documentary research upon the analytic, appreciative and applicative approaches so as to lead to the creativity of new body of knowledge in philosophy and religion.

          The results of research were found as follows: the social working is to help human beings who cannot help themselves to aim at being able by themselves. For the Buddhist monks who treat the social working, they should importantly assist the mental aid to cultivate intelligence, to solve the problems by themselves. There are many points and levels of Buddhist ethics as a way to achieve ones’ goals. The Buddhist monks have been seized on eightfold path, 227 precepts, morality for purification consisting of restraint in accordance with the monastic disciplinary code, sense-control, purity of conduct as regards livelihood and the necessities of life. The importance is also to focus on bases of social solidarity consisting of giving, kindly speech, useful conduct and equality consisting in impartiality. The integration of the Buddhist ethics on the social work treating development of Thai Buddhist monks in the digital society follows by threefold training consisting of morality, concentration and wisdom to apply in the self, personnel and work development for support the transformative events in the digital society. By the content of the social work treating, the Buddhist monks should cultivate Right Understanding in the mundane and supramundane levels. As for the creativity of new body of knowledge on this research is 2M (W) Model.
