Development of Academic Administration Model of Private School Administrators Under Basic Education Level in Bangkok Metropolitan Region

Abstract

The research objectives were: (1) to determine components frameworks and appropriate indicators for academic administration of private school administrators under basis education level in Bangkok Metropolitan Region; (2) to develop academic administration model of private school administrators under basis education level and examine the administrative issues that should be developed; and (3) to examine guidelines for development of academic administration model of private school administrators under basis education level in Bangkok Metropolitan Region.


            This research was a mixed methodology consisting of qualitative and quantitative. The research procedures have been conducted into three phases; (1) Qualitative research conducting from review of literature, related researches, and in-depth interview of qualified experts in academic administration, as well as content analysis was employed; (2) Quantitative research conducting from samples of 264 private school administrators in academic administration, obtained by stratified random sampling method, the instrument used for data collection was a five-level rating scale questionnaire, the statistics used for data analysis were descriptive, and inferential statistics; and (3) Qualitative research conducting from 12 qualified experts of academic administration affairs in Bangkok Metropolitan Region, semi-structured interview form was used to collect data and content analysis was employed.


            The research findings were revealed as follows: (1) The components and appropriate indicators for academic administration of private school administrators under basis education level consisted of seven components namely; School academic planning, Teaching and learning process, School curriculum development, Measurement, evaluation and credit transfer, Internal supervision, Action research for the development of teaching and learning, and Development and use of educational technology, totaling 93 indicators; (2) The academic administration model of private school administrators under basis education level in Bangkok Metropolitan Region comprised of seven components at similar importance levels that private school administrators have to manage simultaneously in the following sequences; School academic planning, Teaching and learning process, School curriculum development, Action research for the development of teaching and learning, Development and use of educational technology, Measurement, evaluation and credit transfer, and Internal supervision respectively; and (3) The guidelines for development of academic administration model of private school administrators were found as follows; Private school administrators must have knowledge of significant academic frameworks, especially in the field of school curriculum development, teaching and learning management, and action research for development of teaching and learning by applying guidelines of PLC (Professional Learning Community), Teacher's teaching and learning management should be based on the student-centered plan as well as teachers need to acquire more knowledge and experience in the subject matter regularly, The integration of the core curriculum according to the Ministry of Education's policy with the community context, society, and O-Net result should be carried out, Private school administrators should provide teachers with knowledge to conduct action research to improve teaching in every semester including internal supervision as planned in a variety of methods.
