Tax measures to support the care of the elderly or dependents

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study tax measures to support the care of the elderly or dependent people in Thailand by conducting comparative research with tax measures of foreign countries such as Canada, the United States, Japan and Singapore. And determining appropriate tax measures for the benefit of supporting the care of the elderly or dependent people in Thailand, including measures to support and promote care for the elderly or those with dependence and measures to provide assistance or alleviate the burden or caregivers of the elderly or dependents.


The study found that, there is only one tax measure in Thailand to support and promote the care of the elderly or those with dependence, which is investment promotion. But Thailand has no tax measures to assistance or ease the burden of caregivers of the elderly or dependents. Therefore, it is different from foreign tax measures that grant the right to take care of the elderly in the elderly care business and nursing home, including the cost of hiring a nurse to take care of the elderly at home, credits and deductions for personal income tax calculations such as Canada grants income tax credits for spouse's medical expenses husband and wife who are not married And children under 18 years old, including medical expenses for dependents of individuals with income such as children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, grandchildren of the income earner or of the income earner's husband and wife that income, The United States entitles the taxpayer to bring the cost of the facility. Nursing Assisted Living of the Elderly "Chronic patients" and under the custody of those who earn income tax deductions for medical expenses. If the taxpayer pays more than 50% of parental support, Japan grants hometown tax deductions for donors, which has led some localities to use their tax revenues to support elderly care. Ireland gives the income earners the right to be a husband or wife. And children or relatives who are responsible for the expenses paid to the elderly care center and the cost of hiring a home care nurse under the advice of a medical professional can be deducted from the tax calculation.


In order to support the entry into Thailand’s aging society and to relieve the burden of caregivers of the elderly or those with dependent conditions. Thailand should have tax measures to grant rights to husbands, wives and children or relatives of the elderly or dependents have the right to use the expenses in taking care of the elderly, both paid to the elderly care provider (Nursing Home) and paid as a nursing home care under the advice of a doctor is deducted as a deduction in the calculation of personal income tax as in Ireland. This is to support and promote gratitude and also to support the elderly care business as well because when the government has measures to help alleviate expenses. Caregivers also have the encouragement and resources to take care of the elderly or those who are dependent and make the elderly care business have a budget to develop and progress business and modernize to accommodate the number of elderly people that will continue to increase in the future.
