The Impact of Grit on Work, Money, and Family during the Covid-19 Crisis

Abstract
The objective of this paper was to study the influence of Grit on work-life impact, financial impact, and impact on family during the Covid-19 pandemic among Thai workers. This study highlights the benefits of applying Grit in human resource management to help workers gain the resillience mindset to cope with shocks and urgent changes in the the culture and surrondings. The study utilized a survey of quality of life, happiness, and organizational engagement of 25,867 employees and employ confirmatary factor analysis to construct Grit from relevant indicators. Binary logistic regression was also analyzed to test the influence of factor related to work-life, financial and family impacts. The finding showed that the proportion of sample who experience the financial impact was higher than that of work-life and family. Grit would significantly lower the impact on work-life, financial, and family. Moreover, demographic factors and job characteristics also play the crucial role on the negative impacts of Covid-19. Younger generations like generation Z (OR=1.39) and generation Y (OR=1.84) were more likely to have the financial impact than that of the older generation, Baby Boomer. Low-income workers were more likely to experience the negative impact on work-life, financial, and family during the Covid-19 pandemic.
