A study of private music school’s management in Amphoe Muang, Lampang

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the management of private music school in Amphoe Muang, Lampang. The qualitative research was collected from the owners of eight music schools, namely Serny Music, Teerada Music, Baan Dontree, Chat KanDontree, Piano Studio, Thongprasert Music House, Baan Kru Tui and Maneethong Piano using a person interview technique. A set of questionnaire was used as a tool of a quantitative research. A number of 23 teachers from those schools were also the sample for this study. 

          In the view of curriculum management, the international standard curriculum was employed simultaneously with school’s curriculum. Moreover, the curriculum used was also flexible for the students who studying music for relaxation and enjoyment. The recital was arranged for following the performance of students at least once a year.

          In the aspect of personnel management, 69.6 % of teachers were graduated in Bachelor of Art related with music. Most of teachers (39.1%) had the experience in music teaching during 2-5 years. Some of them could teach music with different kinds of instruments. The teachers were participated in the training of students for recital and international standard test and they were hired for a part time job.

          For the view of location of school, all 8 music schools were located in the community zone and were comfortable for transportation by cars and motorcycles. All those schools opened daily on Monday to Friday in the evening and at 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday
