บทคัดย่อ
ในปีที่พระเจ้า Kanishka แห่งราชวงศ์ Kushan ขึ้นครองราชย์ พระองค์ได้ทรงก่อตั้ง “กนิษกศักราช” ขึ้นเป็นปีศักราชใหม่และมีการใช้อย่างเป็นทางการต่อเนื่องยาวนานในอาณาจักรที่ครอบครอง การทราบตัวเลขปีก่อตั้งกนิษกศักราชนี้จะช่วยเป็นกุญแจดอกสำคัญที่เชื่อมโยงเหตุการณ์ต่าง ๆ ในอินเดียโดยเฉพาะช่วงกำเนิดพระพุทธศาสนามหายานได้เป็นอย่างดี แต่จากอดีตถึงปัจจุบันยังไม่มีหลักฐานใดที่ระบุแน่ชัดทำให้ยังไม่มีข้อสรุปตัวเลขปีที่ชัดเจน บทความนี้จึงได้นำเอาหลักฐานใหม่ที่มีรายงานการขุดค้นพบเพิ่มเติมรวมถึงหลักฐานทั้งหมดที่เกี่ยวข้องอันได้แก่ หลักฐานทางศิลาจารึก หลักฐานทางบันทึกประวัติศาสตร์จีน และหลักฐานอื่น ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง รวบรวมนำมาวิเคราะห์หาตัวเลขปีก่อตั้งศักราชนี้ใหม่ซึ่งได้ข้อสรุปว่า ปีที่น่าจะมีความเป็นไปได้มากที่สุดคือ ปี ค.ศ.134 = ปีกนิษกศักราชที่ 1
