Abstract

               Palm leaf manuscripts is a type of documentary. The letters were written on the careful retailed leaves of talipot palm. These leaves were drilled holes and tie them together as a book. The manuscripts are usually called “Talipot palm leaf scriptures” (Kampee Bai Lan). This is because the inscribed stories were mostly related to religion and scriptures, such as, the Tripiṭaka, the Buddha’s teachings, stories related to the Buddha and the ancestors’ literatures. The palm leaf manuscripts are significant and holy due to the inscribed stories and the holy Buddha’s teachings.  Therefore, Buddhism must preserve these scriptures well and in proper places. The scriptures should be threatened in the same way as the images of Buddha are cherished.
