Digital Skill Assessment of Academic Staff, Sukothai Thammathirat Open University

Abstract

The research objectives were to examine the current levels of digital skills among academic staff at Sukothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU). The digital skills evaluation is broken down into seven categories: 1) digital literacy (DLit); 2) digital governance, standardization, and compliance (DG); 3) digital technology (DT); 4) digital process and service design (DS); 5) strategic and project management (SPM); 6) digital leadership (DL); and 7) digital transformation (DTr).              


This research used cross-sectional survey research. The population was 398 staff from 14 academic departments, with a sample group of 218 persons. The sampling method was the stratified sampling and systematic approach. The research tool is a self-assessment questionnaire on digital skills, organized into three levels: low, middle, and high. The data collection method was from online. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation              


Research findings are as follows: Digital literacy average is 1.68 or 56 percent; digital governance, standards, and compliance averages 1.68 or 56.2 percent; digital technology averages 1.8 or 60 percent; digital process and service design averages 1.65 or 55 percent; strategic and project management averages 1.6 or 55 percent; digital leadership averages 1.67 or 55.67 percent; and digital transformation averages 1.7 or 56.67 percent. All categories are evaluated at a moderate level.
