The Development of Health Communication Competencies of Village Health Volunteers Thung Song Municipality Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract

The research on the Development of Health Communication Competencies of Village Health Volunteers, Thung Song Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province was qualitative. The objectives of this research were to study 1) the factors affecting health communication success and 2) the problems and obstacles towards the operation of the village health volunteers, Thung Song Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The key informants were administrators of Thung Song Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and the village health volunteers of the Thung Song Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Content analysis was used to analyze the data from the collected documents such as the Local Development Plan, Thung Song Municipality Website, and Journal of Thung Song Municipality, a total of 19 items, No.1/2023 to No.19/2023. An in-depth interview was conducted with the administrators who were the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor of Thung Song Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. A group interview was used with the village health volunteers, Thung Song Municipality, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The village health volunteers, a total of 36, were kept in 3 groups. Each group consisted of 12 village health volunteers.

The results revealed that the development of health communication competencies of village health volunteers in Thung Song Municipality Nakhon Si Thammarat Province are as follows: 1. Factors affecting the success of health communication: 1.1 The balance of content presentation. The credibility of messengers and the continuity of information content 1.2 Compliance with community performance standards 2. Obstacles in the implementation of health communication of regular public health volunteers villages (Vor Sor Sor.), Thung Song Municipality are as follows: Lack of knowledge and skills. Lack of work guidelines and inadequate equipment.
