Development of Database System for Basketry Handicraft Products in Tung Tom Subdistrict Area, San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

Basketry handicraft is an important local wisdom that plays a significant role in the way of life and economy of communities. Particularly in Tung Tom Subdistrict, San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province, local artisans have formed groups to produce and distribute basketry handicrafts at both the household level and for export. This research aims to develop a basketry handicraft database system in Thung Tom Subdistrict and study user satisfaction with the system. This study is categorized as developmental research. The research instruments consisted of: (1) a handicraft product database system for basketry in Tung Tom Subdistrict, San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province, comprising a frontend developed with Angular and a backend developed with Java Spring Boot connected to a MySQL database, with the research process conducted in accordance with the SDLC concept; (2) a questionnaire for evaluating system efficiency; and (3) a questionnaire for assessing user satisfaction. The sample group in this study was divided into two categories: (1) five experts, selected through purposive sampling, and (2) thirty-five system users, selected through simple random sampling. The statistical methods used for data analysis included percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research findings revealed as follows: (1) the developed database system allowed administrators to manage product data, members to view details and reserve woven handicraft products, and general users to view product information and write reviews; (2) efficiency evaluation by experts was rated at the highest level; and (3) the user satisfaction assessment of the developed system was rated high, with a mean score of 4.30 and a standard deviation of 0.54.
