  • Journal of East Asia and ASEAN Studies (Vol. 25 No. 2 (2025) July - December)
    Vol. 25 No. 2 (2025)

This issue of the Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies has been supported by the Faculty of Political Science, Ramkhamhaeng University. It will be the last issue before changes in the journal’s management policy. According to the policy of Ramkhamhaeng University, the journals listed in Tier 1 and Tier 2 of the Thailand Citation Index (TCI) have to be financially self-sustaining, and it will no longer provide support for journal publication. Therefore, beginning with the next issue, the journal will introduce publication fees, the rate of which will be announced on the journal’s website.

This issue has been prepared at a time when the world is facing structural transformations in politics, economics, and society. These changes reflect the challenge of maintaining a balance between great power rivalry and the strengthening of resilience within nations and regions. The knowledge presented here is diverse, both theoretical and empirical, providing space for debate and the exchange of perspectives. All articles in this issue have been reviewed by three experts appointed by the editorial board. The articles in this issue cover a wide range of contemporary issues: Lobbying in Politics of Democratic Regimes; The Results for Human Thai People Rights  from Culture and Standards of Political Ethics; Thai Socio-Culture in Values of Marriage Equality in the Generation Z Era; An Analysis of Cooperation Mechanisms of the Joint Public and Private Sector Consultative Committee (JPPSCC) during 2014 – 2023; and Place-Based Development as an Alternative to Infrastructure Mega-Projects: A Political Economy Perspective and Everyday Resistance in Ranong. At the regional and international levels, this issue also includes ASEAN Centrality in the Era of Great Power Competition and A Comparative Study of Humanitarian Situations in the European Union and ASEAN.

Taken together, this issue of the Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies brings together articles that reflect the diversity of scholarship, both theoretically and empirically. It aims to stimulate question, critique, and the development of new approaches for advancing Thai society and the ASEAN region toward quality and sustainability.

  • Journal of East Asia and ASEAN Studies (Vol. 25 No. 1 (2025) January - June)
    Vol. 25 No. 1 (2025)

The Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies expresses its profound gratitude to the Master of Public Administration program for their generous financial support, and to the Faculty of Political Science at Ramkhamhaeng University for their operational support. This comes following Ramkhamhaeng University's decision to discontinue budget allocation for the journal, with the rationale that the university would only support journals ranked in TCI Tier 3. However, the editorial board unanimously agreed that it would be inappropriate to compromise the journal's quality for the sake of obtaining funding support. We therefore extend our deepest appreciation to both institutions for continuing to endorse and support our commitment to maintaining the journal's standards.

This issue presents a diverse collection of high-quality academic articles covering significant topics at both regional and national levels. The volume begins with studies on Chinese nationalism regarding the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands dispute during the Xi Jinping era and The current situation of social inequality in China. This is followed by an analysis of the Chinese government's media policy in Thailand through a case study of the Matichon-Khao Sod Group and Xinhua News Agency. Additionally, this issue features articles related to local and national governance, including studies on Trang Municipality's readiness to become a smart city, land and building tax collection policies in Bangkok Metropolitan Area (2019-2024), and global governance through indicators examining the current state, deterioration, and development approaches for rule of law and good governance in Thailand. Other significant topics presented in this issue include crisis management in Thailand's political context, approaches to enhancing the quality of ThaID application services among citizens in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, and the art of leading Generation Y and Z through leadership strategies for modern workplace efficiency. All articles in this issue reflect the diversity of East Asian and ASEAN studies, spanning from international relations and public policy to local development and digital-age management. The editorial board sincerely hopes that these articles will benefit academics, students, and those interested in related fields, and can be applied to advance knowledge and practice in their respective areas.

The Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies has been kindly support by the Faculty of Political Science, Ramkhamheang University for publishing academic works. • วารสารเอเชียตะวันออกเเละอาเซียนศึกษา
    Vol. 21 No. 1 (2021)

Journal of East Asian and ASEAN Studies has been supported by the Faculty of Political Science, Ramkamheang University in publishing academic and research articles. This issue starts with the state level of analysis. The first article compares the changes in generating people’s participation and accountability of Thailand with those of the United States of America by indicating that attitude factors such as value and culture have an effect on the success of policies not less than changes in structural factors such as institutional and legal structures. The Second article concerns the state’s foreign policy by studying Vietnam’s ‘3 Nos’ Policy. It argues that the ‘3 Nos’ policy allows Vietnam to move closer to the United States while not antagonizing China. Added to this, Vietnam is able to hedge itself from the superpowers’ pressure while pursuing its own national interest. Then, we move towards the research papers that evaluate the state from different perspectives such as the leadership and organizational culture of Aircraft Rework Facility Center, Royal Thai Naval Air Division, Royal Thai Fleet and the public impacts of cannabis use for curing in Thailand. The final part concerns with the papers on area studies like a comparative study of demographic grouping on patients' satisfaction with the quality of new drug in China and postgraduate education service quality and student satisfaction of Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University, China.

In the next issue, the editor team hopes to add more types of article such as review article and book review so that the diverse types of article could be more beneficial for students, academies, and researchers in Political Science to further their studies and make a new contribution in their academic works.
