Abstract

This study aims to analyze the demand for the use of Mass Rapid Transit Yellow Line service Lat Phrao - Samrong route, and examine the demand sensitivity of the service price change and the consumers’ income change. Primary data was collected in form of questionnaires from random interview with 414 samples who live within three - kilometer radius of 23 Mass Rapid Transit Yellow Line stations. The study was conducted by the qualitative data analysis with descriptive statistic and the quantitative data analysis in 3 parts including analysis of demand, price elasticity of demand analysis and income elasticity of demand analysis. The result of this study indicated that the demand is equal to 1,093,847 trips a week at the service price starting at 15 baht and increasing 2 baht for next station. The findings indicated that Mass Rapid Transit Yellow Line service has a low-price elasticity of demand. The price elasticity of demand is equal to -0.4571, and the income elasticity of demand is equal to 0.2616.
