Abstract

This research was an exploratory component analysis to find tour program-specific characteristics of the youth tourists' target group by measuring the level of preference for tourism areas, recreational activities, and accommodation service types. The exploratory factor analysis was performed using the principal component analysis method. The correlation coefficient of each pair of variables was determined and the variables with similar correlation scores were grouped into the same component with factor loading >0.50. The results showed that the specific characteristics of youth tour programs are divided into 9 characteristics: nature touch accommodation tour program, closer to local people tour program, slow activities tour program, budget travel tour program, enjoyment activities tour program, natural based tour program, outdoor activities tour program, convenience tour program, and social activities tour program. The specific characteristics of youth tour programs can be used as a guideline for organizing tourism activities, organizing tourism programs including travel itineraries. It supports and promotes special interest tourism and creative tourism. It is mainly suitable for organizing tourism activities, using special interest activities as supplementary activities. It supports promoting tourism that does not adhere to important festivals and long holidays.
