Story Telling Activities with Picture to Develop Executive Functions for Kindergarteners

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to compare the executive functions of kindergarteners before and after engaging in storytelling activities with pictures. The target group in this research consisted of 25 kindergarteners, aged 4-5 years old, enrolled in kindergarten 3, Banchangomanadone School. The research was conducted over a period of 6 weeks, with sessions held 4 days per week for 30 minutes each before the circle time. The research instruments included 24 lesson plans for storytelling activities with pictures and the assessment form to evaluate the executive function behaviors of kindergarteners. The data was statistically analyzed by using mean and standard deviation.
The research results indicated that the mean score of executive functions among the kindergarteners before participating in the storytelling activities with pictures was at a medium level (= 25.20,
= 0.48. However, after engaging in the storytelling activities with pictures, the mean score for executive functions significantly increased to a high level (
= 36.70,
= 3.44). Finally, the mean score of executive functions for kindergarteners who participated in the storytelling activity with pictures was higher compared to their pre-activity levels.
