Abstract

This research and development study aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an integrated program based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and the ABCDEF model (IDAP) to enhance inhibitory control and reduce moral disengagement and anger among youth bystanders of cyberbullying. The sample consisted of 40 youth cyberbullying bystanders with high scores in bystander behavior, randomly assigned into an experimental group and a control group (n=20 per group). The experimental group received the IDAP program developed by the researcher, while the control group received standard instruction. Research instruments, administered both before and after the experiment, included: 1) the Thai version of the Moral Disengagement Scale (Cronbach's alpha = 0.87), 2) the Thai version of the Multidimensional Anger Inventory (Cronbach's alpha = 0.85), and 3) the Cyberbullying Go/No-Go Task (ICC = 0.769). Data were analyzed using t-tests. The results showed that the experimental group exhibited a significant increase in inhibitory control and a significant decrease in moral disengagement and anger (p < .05), both after the experiment and when compared to the control group. In conclusion, the IDAP program is effective in enhancing inhibitory control and significantly reducing moral disengagement and anger, which contributes to mitigating the risk of inappropriate online behaviors.
