The Development of Academic Achievement in Mathematics Subject Area “Dividing Decimals” by Team Games Tournament Technique of Prathomsuksa 6 Students at Ban Suan Madue School

Abstract

The research objectives were : 1) to develop the academic achievement in Mathematics subject area “Decimal Division” for Prathomsuksa 6 students at Ban Suan Madue School by Team Games Tournament (TGT) technique; 2) to develop on the effectiveness of academic learning by Team Games Tournament technique and 3) to study the students' satisfaction after learning through Team Games Tournament technique. This research was Quasi-Experimental Research. Pre- and post-experimental tests were carried out. The population was Prathomsuksa 6 students, semester 2 of the academic year 2022, Ban Suan Madue School under the Lopburi Primary Educational Area Office, totaling 14 students. Research instruments included 1) learning plan; 2) academic achievement test; and 3) satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used to analyze data included frequency, percentage, average, Standard Deviation and Effectiveness Index (E.I.).

          The research results showed that: 1) the academic achievement in Mathematics subject area “Decimal Division” of Prathomsuksa 6 students at Ban Suan Madue School by the Team Games Tournament technique was higher than the threshold of 70 percent. The average score was 15.93 points or 79.64 percent; 2) the Effectiveness Index of Learning Mathematics subject area “Decimal Division” of Prathomsuksa 6 students at Ban Suan Madue School by Team Games Tournament technique was improved with E.I. the value of 0.67; and 3) students' satisfaction after learning mathematics subject area “Decimal Division” by Team Games Tournament technique of Prathomsuksa 6 students at Ban Suan Madue School overall was at the highest level.
