The purposes of this research were: (1) to investigate the current conditions, desirable conditions, and priority needs of sustainable leadership among school administrators under the Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 1; and (2) to examine guidelines for developing sustainable leadership among school administrators under the same jurisdiction. A mixed-methods research design was employed and conducted in two phases. Phase 1 was a quantitative study. The sample consisted of 330 school administrators and teachers under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, selected by stratified random sampling based on school size, followed by simple random sampling. The research instrument was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire measuring the current and desired conditions of sustainable leadership among school administrators. Phase 2 was a qualitative study. The research instruments included a semi-structured interviews form and an evaluation form used to assess the appropriateness and feasibility of the sustainable leadership development guidelines for school administrators. The statistical methods used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and the modified Priority Needs Index (PNI Modified). Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis with descriptive narration.
The research findings revealed that: (1) The overall current condition of sustainable leadership among school administrators under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 was at a moderate level (x̄ = 3.37), while the overall desired condition was at a high level (x̄ = 4.45). The overall priority needs assessment for developing sustainable leadership yielded a modified Priority Needs Index of 0.322. The three highest priority needs, in descending order, were sustainability, vision, and resources. (2) The guidelines for developing sustainable leadership among school administrators under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 comprised seven dimensions with a total of 22 guidelines, namely: diversity (4 guidelines), depth (3 guidelines), equity (3 guidelines), resources (3 guidelines), distribution (3 guidelines), sustainability (3 guidelines), and vision (3 guidelines).
