Findings on Stakeholder Needs for Computer Education for Pre-Service Computer Teachers

This research article aims to: 1) study the needs of stakeholders regarding curriculum development for pre-service computer students and 2) study guidelines for curriculum development for pre-service computer students. The study employed survey research methodology. The target group for data collection was selected using purposive sampling from relevant stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, entrepreneurs, curriculum committee members, instructors, and students, totaling 104 participants. The research instruments were a 5-level Likert rating scale questionnaire, structured open-ended questions, interview assessment forms, and focus group discussions. Quantitative data from the rating scale questionnaire were analyzed using basic statistics mean () and standard deviation (S.D.) while qualitative data from open-ended questions, interviews, and focus group discussions were analyzed using content analysis through data categorization and key issue summarization.
The research found that:
- The overall needs of stakeholders regarding curriculum development for pre-service computer students were at the highest level (
= 4.64, S.D. = 0.76) and the overall characteristics of pre-service computer students were at a high level (
- Guidelines for developing and improving the curriculum for pre-service computer students to align with stakeholder needs, Higher Education Qualification Standards, and outcome-based education concepts, in order to promote the production of quality computer teacher graduates who are ready for future professional practice.
