Abstract

This study aimed to (1) investigate the suitability in opening a permanent Thai-Myanmar permanent border crossing point at Ban Huay Ton Noon, Khunyuom district, Mae Hong Son province (2) study satisfaction, benefits, and impacts of involved public and private organization as well as business entrepreneurs in border trade, and people in Thai-Myanmar permanent border crossing point at Ban Huay Ton Noon, Khunyuom district, Mae Hong Son province, and (3) propose a guideline for an appropriate in Thai-Myanmar opening permanent border crossing point at Ban Huay Ton Noon, Khunyuom district, Mae Hong Son province. This research was a documentary and a qualitative research. The research tool that used in this research was a structured interview. This research used a narrative approach derived from interview, observation, and notes.


It was found that, there were eleven appropriate factors for opening a permanent Thai-Myanmar Border Check Point at Ban Huay Ton Noon, Khunyuom District, Mae Hong Son Province which include security, ASEAN economic community, international politics, Thailand policy, human resource, logistics, international low, Mae Hong Son province policy, culture and religion, education and information, and stakeholders satisfaction. There were, however, six threats which were customs and tax, local political, economic, tourism, physical and environments, and public health areas. Government and private organization business entrepreneurs and local people satisfied the Border Checkpoint opening but they commented that there should be prevention measurement about public health along the border, drug abuse, and illegal immigration
