The Lord Buddha Dharma and Writing Style in the Column “Jud Fai Nai Jai Khon” by Luang Pee Nam Fon

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the Lord Buddha Dharma and writing style in the column “Jud Fai Nai Jai Khon” by Luang Pee Nam Fon. The data resource of this study was from 57 articles published in Matichon Weekly magazine during September 2015 – September 2016. The record form of Lord Buddha Dharma and writing style was used as the research tools.

The result revealed that there were 3 topics of Dharma; 1) Dharma towards oneself; 2) Dharma towards other; and 3) Dharma towards society. For writing style, it was found that the language level; verbal; semiformal; and formal level were used in the column of “Jud Fai Nai Jai Khon” by Luang Pee Nam Fon. For word usage, words direct meaning, words with expressions, concrete words, noun and colloquialism, words with indirect meaning, and foreign words were used. For idiom usage, there were 2 types of idioms; traditional or outdated idioms and new idioms. For literary style, exposition, narration and argumentation were used. For figure of speech, it was found that simile and metaphor were used. The Lord Buddha Dharma and writing style in the column “Jud Fai Nai Jai Khon” by Luang Pee Nam Fon played a role in society by spreading Buddha’s teachings, virtue and morality according to the way of Buddhism. Luang Pee Nam Fon was the guide of spiritual anchor for Buddhist and he was the person who had learned Buddha’s teachings and brought the teachings to teach Buddhist to know and understand the teachings and then could apply them for their happy livelihood.
