The Development of Reading for Main Ideas Skills by Using Morality Tale Book for Prathomsuksa 1 Students of Bansankhong (Chiang Rai Jaroonrat) School Mueang District Chiang Rai Province

Abstract
The objectives of this study were to 1) construct and examine the efficiency of morality tale book for Prathomsuksa 1 students of Bansankhong (Chiang Rai Jaroonrat) School, 2) investigate the learning achievement on reading for main idea before and after implementing the morality tale book for Prathomsuksa 1 students of Bansankhong (Chiang Rai Jaroonrat) School, and 3) assess students’ satisfaction towards implementation of the morality tale book for Prathomsuksa 1 students of Bansankhong (Chiang Rai Jaroonrat) School. The samples were 37 Prathomsuksa 1/10 students in their semester 1 of academic year 2019. The research instruments were 8 units of morality tale book, reading for main idea achievement test (20 items of 3-stem multiple choice for pre- and posttest), 16 learning management plans, one pre-test and one post-test plan covering 18 hours, and students’ satisfaction questionnaire. The data analysis involved examining efficiency of the morality tale book by applying E1/E2 efficiency formula to calculate mean and percentage of learning achievement scores, and assessing the students’ satisfaction by analyzing mean and standard deviation of the questionnaire scores.
The results revealed that:
- The morality tale book for Prathomsuksa 1 students of Bansankhong (Chiang Rai Jaroonrat) School showed the efficiency scores at 84.11/85.13 which were higher than those of the 80/80 standard criteria.
- The students’ learning achievement after implementing the morality tale book were significantly higher than those of the pre-test at the confidence level of .01
- The students’ satisfaction towards the morality tale book, in overall, was rated at the high level at the mean of 2.80 with standard deviation at 0.16.
