แนวคิดการจัดการศพในพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท

บทคัดย่อ

การศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้  มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการคือ (1) เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดการจัดการศพในสมัยพุทธกาล (2) เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดการจัดการศพในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ (3) เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการจัดการศพด้วยการอุทิศร่างกายตามหลักพุทธศาสนา  เป็นการศึกษาจากเอกสารและสัมภาษณ์บุคคล จำนวน 30 ราย แล้วนำมาวิเคราะห์และสังเคราะห์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) แนวคิดการจัดการศพในสมัยพุทธกาลตามหลักพระพุทธศาสนา เป็นการจัดการศพ โดยวิธีการเผา ฝังดิน โยนหรือทิ้งลงน้ำ การนำไปทิ้งป่าช้าผีดิบ นำไปเผาแล้วนำกระดูกมาก่อเจดีย์เก็บไว้บูชา สาระของการจัดการศพไม่เน้นขั้นตอนทางพิธีกรรม มุ่งใช้หลักไตรลักษณ์เป็นเครื่องพิจารณาในการจัดการศพ 2) การจัดการศพในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ตามวิถีพุทธ พบว่า  มี 2 แบบ คือ 1) การเผา 2) การฝังดิน มีการประกอบพิธีกรรมตามหลักพระพุทธศาสนาและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น โดยมีการเชื่อมโยงปริศนาธรรมของพระพุทธศาสนาอันเป็นภูมิปัญญาของชาวล้านนาที่สอดแทรกไว้ในประเพณีและพิธีกรรม  ซึ่งโยงถึงความเชื่อเรื่องนรก สวรรค์ บาป บุญ คุณ โทษ และ  เรื่องกรรม 3) การจัดการศพด้วยการอุทิศร่างกาย (บริจาค) พบว่า ชาวเชียงใหม่ มีความเชื่อและมีการเตรียมความพร้อมให้กับตนเองก่อนเสียชีวิต ด้วยการอุทิศร่างกายให้กับภาควิชากายวิภาคศาสตร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ด้วยความเชื่อว่าเพื่อสืบต่อชีวิตเพื่อนมนุษย์ให้ยืนยาว เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมกับความตายไว้ล่วงหน้าและไม่ประมาทในชีวิต และนอกจากนี้ได้ปฏิบัติตามกฎเกณฑ์และหลักการเชิงพุทธในกระบวนทัศน์เรื่องบุญกุศลและเพื่อรักษาชื่อเสียงวงค์ตระกูล ภายใต้ความเชื่อเรื่องภพชาติ คือ นรกและสวรรค์

CONCEPTS THE ARRANGMENT OF DEAD BODY IN THERAVADA BUDDHISM

The objectives of this research are in three purposes : 1) to study the concept in the management of corpse in the time of the Buaddha 2) to sutdy the concept of corpse management in Chiang Mai province and 3) to study the management of devoted bodies according to the principle of Buddhism. The documentary study and interviewing persons of 30 cases were analyzed and synthesized. 1) The management concept of dead bodies in the time of the Buddha was in the way of cremation, bury, throw in the river or left in the cemetery of Zombie. After burning of the bodies, bones were deposit in the stupa for the worship. The essential of the management do not focus on the belief of the ritual but emphasis on the three characteristics of existence. 2) The management of corpses in the way of Buddhism in Chiang Mai province  are in 2 ways : 1) cremation and 2) bury.  The ritual was done along the principle of Buddhism and folk wisdom. The linkage of Buddhist koan was interposed in the tradition and ritual which string to the belief in hell, heaven, right or wrong doing and misdeeds. 3) The  management in dead bodies by the donation of Chiang Mai peoples has been done by the believe. They prepared themselves before death and donated to the Department of Anatomy Facutty of Medicine , Chiang Mai University. They believed that this will be lengthen the lifespan of the fellow men, the beforehand preparation and non-negligence. The following of the rules and principles under Buddhist paradigm of werit and to maintain the reputation of the family under the belief of life namely hell and heaven.
