บทความนี้นำเสนอเกี่ยวกับการใช้เรื่องสั้นภาษาจีนส่งเสริมทักษะการอ่านภาษาจีนเพื่อการสื่อสาร การอ่านเป็นทักษะหนึ่งที่มีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่งต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาจีน การเรียนรู้ภาษาจีนมีหลากหลายทักษะ เช่น ทักษะการอ่าน ทักษะการเขียน ทักษะการพูด และทักษะการฟัง ผู้เขียนได้เลือกทักษะการอ่านภาษาจีนเพราะผู้อ่านสามารถนำเนื้อหาที่ตนอ่านนั้นผ่านกระบวนการการสื่อความหมาย สื่อสารออกมาให้กับผู้ฟังได้เข้าใจเนื้อหา ความคิด ความรู้สึก อารมณ์ของเรื่องที่อ่าน และได้แสดงความคิดเห็นต่อเรื่องที่อ่านผ่านการสื่อสารออกมาเป็นถ้อยคำได้ให้ผู้ฟังหรือผู้รับสารได้มีปฏิกิริยาตอบสนองร่วมกันกับผู้สื่อสารที่สำคัญต่อการอ่านภาษาจีนเพื่อการสื่อสารโดยใช้เรื่องสั้นภาษาจีนเหล่านี้ มีความหลากหลายของเนื้อหา เพื่อให้ผู้อ่านสามารถเรียนรู้หลากหลายด้าน ทั้งด้านวัฒนธรรม ด้านสังคม การเมือง เศรษฐกิจ ด้านการใช้ชีวิตและโลกของศิลปะ ผู้อ่านสามารถเข้าใจบริบทเรื่องราวนั้น ๆ ของกลุ่มบุคคลนั้น ๆ และวัฒนธรรมของชนเผ่านั้น ๆ ด้วย
