Abstract

This article presents the use of Chinese short stories enhance Chinese reading skills for communication. Reading is one of the most important skills to learn Chinese. Learning Chinese has many skills such as reading skills, writing skills, speaking skills and listening skills. The author has chosen Chinese reading skills because the readers can bring the contents that they read through the process of interpretation. To communicate to listeners to understand the contents, thoughts, feelings, emotions of the story read and expressing opinions on what has been read through communicating in words that allow listeners or receivers to react together with the communicator that it is important to reading Chinese for communication by using these Chinese short stories. There is a variety of contents that the readers can learn many aspects: both in terms of culture, society, politics, economy, life and the world of art. The readers can understand the contexts of these stories, groups of people, and cultures of their tribes as well.
