Abstract

Following the aftermath of World War II from 1941 onward, English has been accepted as an international language. Since then, the number of English users has been increasing in a multiple volume. According to the report made by the British Council in 1995, the number of English users worldwide amounted to one billion, and English has become the most widely used among other languages of the world. However, the latest survey report has revealed that within 10-15 years from now on (2016-2021) there will be a great change on the role and status of English. Graddol, British reporter and writer has proposed in his recent book entitled “English Next” (2006) the new trends of English in Education. Specialist and English teachers will need to acquire additional skills in teaching the new texts and identities of English in the 21th century. This paper will explore the new trends of English in Education and to summarize the development of teaching and learning processes from the past to form a new concept or a FRESH approach to effective teaching and learning outcomes.
