Abstract

ASEAN countries also have their own national language. As a result, the communication within the ASEANEconomicCommunitywouldhavealotofproblems.Therefore,Englishhasbeendesignated asaLinguaFrancatocommunicatewithinASEANpeople.IntheThaisociety,Englishisnotasgood asitshouldbe.ThemainreasonisbecauseofThaipeoplelackingopportunitiestouseitfordailylife. In Thailand educational system, English is only a compulsory subject that students have to learn and pass it for grade. Thai people do not use it outside classroom which is the drawback for them in the ASEAN Community. Thai people should be developed the ability of English language before being left behind. Thai people need to change their attitudes towards English as an important for AEC and English is not too difficult to learn. If you try hard, you will succeed definitely.
