ABSTRACT
The research purposes were 1) to analyze the use of language on headlines in online newspapers and medias during the virus infection outbreak of Covid-19 at present time, 2022, and 2) to study changes of language use on headlines in online newspapers and medias during the virus infection outbreak of Covid-19 at present time, 2022. It was found that its language use on online newspaper headlines was various such as use of transliteration without word coinage, use of transliteration with Thai word coinage, use of Thai words combined with transliteration, creation of new words or use of existing words used in new meanings or in particular situations and objectives.
On the observation of the use of Thai language on online news headlines, it was found that each word use conveyed different meanings; to give information and facts, to express feeling and opinions, to summarize the main ideas, to use the imperative sentences, and to questioning.
The characteristics of language use were reduced words, use of verbs in the beginning of the sentence with the subject omission, the omission of connective words and conjunctions, use of short simple sentences, use of slang words to increase readers’ imagination, use of transliteration, and use of abbreviation.
