The quantitative research aims to study the use of English novels by students of Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University The 60 students who used to read novels in English were selected as sample of the research. Online questionnaire distributed via Line application and at the university was used as a data collection during October-November 2022.
The results showed that most of the respondents had Objectives for reading novels in English to enjoy Recreation, followed by reading to increase English language skills. The type of English novels that most of the respondents liked to read was fantasy novels, followed by fanfiction novels. The respondents mostly read English novel at home or dorm. Online English novel accessed via application was mostly used, followed by Thammasat University Library.
In terms of the frequency of reading novels in English, less than 1 day a week was the most followed by reading 1-2 days a week. and the time it takes to Read English novels 1-3 hours at a time. The most of respondents read English novels during leisure time or on holidays. The main reason for picking English novel to read was the genre (content) novel the most, followed by the title. Problems of using of English novels were including unavailability of popular English novel and a variety of novel genre in libraries.
