The Effect of Using the Improve Preaching Skills Program to Develop Knowledge and Preaching Skills of the New Generation of God's Servants

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) study the knowledge and preaching skills of the new generation of God's servants, 2) compare the mean scores of the new generation of God's servants' knowledge and preaching skills before and after using the Improve Preaching Skills program. This research was quasi-experimental research. The samples were 45 servants of God, under the Church of Christ in Thailand, the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand, and Thailand Baptist Convention in Bangkok and surrounding areas. The research instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and paired t-test. The results of the research found that 1) the average score of knowledge of preaching of the new generation of God's servants before participating in the Improve Preaching Skills program was overall at a moderate level (=3.33) and after participating in the program was overall at a moderate level (=3.81), 2) the average score of preaching skills before joining the program was overall at a moderate level (=3.34) and after participating in the program was overall at a moderate level (=3.50), and 3) after participating in the program, the average knowledge score was higher than before entering the program. Statistically significant at the .01 level, and the average score of preaching skills before and after participating in the program. There was no statistical difference. Research results show that the Improve Preaching Skills program can develop the knowledge and preaching skills of the new generation of God's servants. And if the training period is increased, it will help to review and add more skills in preaching.
