Abstract

          The research study on the title: the approach of creating knowledge and awareness of accidents from violating traffic laws in Mueang Nonthaburi police Station responsibility’s area aims to study the problems of the accidents resulting from the traffic violations. The study also aims to propose the guidelines to build up the knowledge and raise the awareness on traffic accidents caused by the traffic violations of the people in the area. The executives and traffic operators in the fiscal year of 2018 at Muang Nonthaburi Provincial Police Station, in total 35 persons were interviewed, and the data were analyzed using the content analysis technique.            

            The results found that 1) the problems of accident resulting from the traffic violations, among the top 10 of the most common offenses, not wearing a helmet while driving of both driver and passengers was ranked in the first place. This problem is caused from the public’s lack of knowledge and awareness on the traffic accidents; 2) for the ways and guidelines to build up on people’s knowledge and awareness on the traffic accidents, the equipment recording on each individual’s traffic law offenses would be needed. The police officers could use it to detect the one who violates the traffic law, then educate and train those people to have the good understanding on the severe effects from their violations. Those people could also expose to the real events, for example joining as the volunteer with NGOs that they need to help the injured and those who are killed in traffic accidents. In this way, people who violated the traffic law could see more clearly the impact of what they have done to themselves, to other people and to society.
