DISCUSSION ON THE GRAMMATICAL CONTENT OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEXTBOOK “EXPERIENCING CHINESE” IN RELATION TO THAILAND PAT EXAMINATION

Abstract

This study firstly introduced the screening of the grammar points in Thai PAT 7.4. Secondly,
the grammatical points involved in the seven sets of the authentic Thai Chinese Advanced Placement Test PAT 7.4 were counted. Seven sets of real Thai PAT 7.4 grammar papers were compared and analyzed according to the scope of the “Experiencing Chinese” textbook, to find out the characteristics of the grammar used in the Thai PAT 7.4 and to analyze the characteristics of the questions and question types. Base on the analysis, it could be seen that there was another difficulty in the PAT 7.4, which was there were more five-level grammar items. Thus, the grammar items used on the test paper should be selected within the grammar part of the New Chinese Proficiency Test Syllabus. Simultaneously, the use of super grammar should be reduced, which would reduce the difficulty for students to do the questions. The research results were summarized to provide some reference value for Thai Chinese language teachers, so as to provide a theoretical basis for the popularization of Chinese language in Thailand.
