Abstract

Building the GBA with global technological influence requires the technological innovation of enterprises. Based on the high ladder theory and branding theory, this paper used the annual data of listed companies in Guangdong province from 2008 to 2019 as samples and employed the differential difference method (DID) and other empirical methods to test the policy effect of GBA policy on the RDTA behavior of CEO with overseas background, academic background and fnancial background. The results showed that the greater GBA policy signifcantly strengthened the positive effect of the CEO’s overseas background on enterprise innovation, while the GBA policy signifcantly strengthened the negative relationship between CEO’s academic background, fnancial background and enterprise technological innovation. This conclusion remains valid under differential propensity score matching (PSM-DID). The research conclusion provides targeted micro-empirical evidence for the government to accelerate the formulation and implementation of innovation-driven development strategy, dynamically adjust and optimize innovation policies in the GBA, and control the fnancial degree of enterprises as well as the allocation of senior management team members with different backgrounds.
