THE CONSTRUCTION OF CULTURAL TEACHING MODE FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS BASED ON PRODUCTION-ORIENTED APPROACH
Main Article Content
Abstract
Using the background of building a community with a shared future for mankind, how can foreign students integrate culture into their language classes? This is a topic that has become the focus of scholars’ attention in recent years, though it has not been resolved sufciently. However, teaching the Chinese language to students of Chinese as a foreign language involves Chinese language textbooks that incorporate a large number of mainstream values and public ethics about Chinese society. To enrich the new ways and methods of cultural content integration in language classes, this paper takes the “Production Oriented Approach” as theoretical guidance. The comparative research method and data analysis method were used to generate statistics on the pretest and post-test results of Chinese learners by using SPSS software; the teaching effect was also tested. The research target comprised 56 foreign students in the undergraduate stage of the 2019 clinical medicine major at Dali University. From the perspective of China’s mainstream values and public ethics, cultural teaching in language classes for foreign students was explained. The teaching process of “driving, facilitating and evaluating” the “Production-Oriented Approach” was implemented. The experimental results showed that the scores and experience of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, which showed that the “driving, facilitating and evaluating” teaching mode was better than the traditional one for cultural teaching in language classes and recognized the organic unity of the knowledge system and value system.
