摘要

Culture is an important symbol for a nation to be distinguished from other nations. If a nation’s
traditional culture is weakened or abandoned, the common psychological quality of national stability will
be weakened and the national extinction will be accelerated. The comprehensive revival of Chinese
traditional culture is an important way to build up cultural confidence and achieve cultural prosperity and
is a necessary condition for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Mencius thought is the common
wealth of the Chinese nation and has a profound influence on Chinese history. How to correctly interpret
and apply Mencius’ thought is of great significance to the revival of traditional culture. In this study,
the author adopted the qualitative research, literature analysis and logical reasoning, concept analysis,
the methods of dialectical materialism and historical materialism to mark the “retro” label by academia
of Mencius “Well square system” to explain again, reveals the essence of Mencius “Well square” thought
is based on the protection of the people’s livelihood, stable state, through the “Ba Fu Gong Jing” mode
of integrating factors of production, and to restore and promote the development of productivity of land
state ownership. This idea can be used as a reference to solve the land shortage problem and the idling
problem of homestead in modern China. The “Three-right separation” reform adopted by the Chinese
government in rural land reform, which adheres to collective ownership, implements farmers’ contracting
rights, and liberates land management rights, is the specific manifestation of Mencius’ “protection of
people’s livelihood”, integration of production factors and restoration of production ideas in practice.
