โรงภาพยนตร์สกาลาก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2512 เป็นโรงภาพยนตร์แบบ standalone แห่งสุดท้ายของกรุงเทพมหานคร มีเอกลักษณ์คือความสวยงามทางด้านสถาปัตยกรรมที่โดดเด่น ควรค่าแก่การอนุรักษ์ไว้ บทความวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเต็มใจที่จะจ่ายเพื่ออนุรักษ์โรงภาพยนตร์สกาลาไว้เพื่อการคงอยู่ เพื่อการใช้ประโยชน์ และเพื่อเป็นมรดกแก่ลูกหลาน รวมไปถึงศึกษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อความเต็มใจที่จะจ่ายของผู้เข้าชมที่โรงภาพยนตร์ดังกล่าวด้วยวิธี Contingency Valuation Method ที่มีลักษณะคำถามแบบ Payment Card และประมาณค่าความเต็มใจที่จะจ่ายสูงที่สุดโดยการใช้แบบจำลอง Ordered Logit ผลการศึกษาจากผู้เข้าชมภาพยนตร์ที่โรงภาพยนตร์สกาลา จำนวน 324 คน พบว่าระดับความพึงพอใจของผู้เข้าชมภาพยนตร์ จำนวนสมาชิกในครัวเรือน สถานภาพสมรส รวมไปถึงจำนวนครั้งที่เข้าชมภาพยนตร์ที่โรงภาพยนตร์แห่งนี้มีผลต่อความเต็มใจที่จะจ่าย โดยสามารถคำนวณมูลค่าเฉลี่ยของความเต็มใจที่จะจ่ายเพิ่มเติมจากราคาตั๋วเข้าชมภาพยนตร์ได้เท่ากับ 17.43 บาท โดยสิ่งที่ผู้เข้าชมภาพยนตร์ที่โรงภาพยนตร์สกาลามีความพึงพอใจมากที่สุด คือ ความน่าสนใจของภาพยนตร์ที่ฉาย ความสะดวกในการเดินทาง ราคาของตั๋วเข้าชมภาพยนตร์ และสิ่งที่โรงภาพยนตร์ควรปรับปรุง คือ สภาพของโรงภาพยนตร์ สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก ความปลอดภัย และความสะอาดของโรงภาพยนตร์
