การฆ่าตัวตายเลียนแบบในประเทศไทย

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะทดสอบว่าการฆ่าตัวตายเลียนแบบผู้ที่มีชื่อเสียงเกิดขึ้นในสังคมไทยหรือไม่ รวมทั้งศึกษาปัจจัยทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมต่างๆ มีผลกระทบต่อการตัดสินใจฆ่าตัวตาย โดยการคาดประมาณสมการตัวกำหนดอัตราการฆ่าตัวตายรวม และอัตราการฆ่าตัวตายจำแนกตามเพศและช่วงอายุ เนื่องจากปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการฆ่าตัวตายของแต่ละกลุ่มประชากรอาจจะมีความแตกต่างกัน ส่วนตัวแปรอิสระ ได้แก่ ดัชนีผลผลิตอุตสาหกรรม อัตราการว่างงาน อัตราเงินเฟ้อ ค่าจ้าง อัตราการหย่าร้าง อัตราการเกิด อัตราการบริโภคเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอล์ และตัวแปรหุ่นแสดงเหตุการณ์ฆ่าตัวตายของผู้ที่มีชื่อเสียงในช่วงเวลาก่อนหน้า โดยแยกเป็นกรณีผู้มีชื่อเสียงชาวไทย ชาวต่างประเทศ และชาวเกาหลี ผลการคาดประมาณสมการดุลยภาพระยะยาวด้วยวิธี dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) โดยใช้ข้อมูลอนุกรมเวลารายเดือน ระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2557-2561 พบว่าสมการตัวกำหนดอัตราการฆ่าตัวตายรวม และอัตราการฆ่าตัวตายจำแนกตามเพศและกลุ่มอายุ แสดงให้เห็นถึงการฆ่าตัวตายเลียนแบบที่เกิดขึ้น กล่าวคือเมื่อเกิดเหตุการณ์ฆ่าตัวตายของผู้มีชื่อเสียงจะทำให้อัตราการฆ่าตัวตายในเดือนต่อมาเพิ่มสูงขึ้น โดยการฆ่าตัวตายเลียนแบบผู้มีชื่อเสียงชาวเกาหลีพบในทุกกลุ่มประชากร ส่วนการฆ่าตัวตายเลียนแบบผู้มีชื่อเสียงชาวไทยพบในกลุ่มประชากรเพศชายและกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ ส่วนปัจจัยทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมที่มีผลกระทบต่ออัตราการฆ่าตัวตายได้แก่ ดัชนีผลผลิตอุตสาหกรรม อัตราเงินเฟ้อ ค่าจ้าง และอัตราการหย่าร้าง โดยอัตราการหย่าร้างที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้นแสดงถึงภาวะล้มเหลวของสถาบันครอบครัว เป็นปัจจัยที่มีผลทำให้อัตราการฆ่าตัวตายเพิ่มสูงขึ้นในแทบทุกกลุ่มประชากร ดังนั้นเพื่อเป็นการป้องกันการฆ่าตัวตายเลียนแบบ สื่อมวลชนควรมีความระมัดระวังในการนำเสนอรายละเอียดของข่าวการฆ่าตัวตาย ในส่วนของข้อจำกัดของการศึกษา เนื่องจากเหตุการณ์ฆ่าตัวตายของผู้ที่มีชื่อเสียงมีจำนวนค่อนข้างน้อยในชุดข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการศึกษา การศึกษาเพิ่มเติมในอนาคตโดยใช้ข้อมูลจำนวนเพิ่มมากขึ้นจึงเป็นสิ่งที่จะก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์เพิ่มขึ้น
