THE ARMY LIBRARY ADMINISTRATION IN RESPONSE TO THE ROYAL THAI ARMY STRATEGY 2017 – 2036

Abstract

The research purposes were to 1) study the conceptual framework of the Army Library Administration and 2) analyze the current and desired conditions of the Army Library Administration in response to the Royal Thai Army Strategy B.E. 2560 – 2579.

Informants are administrators/library heads, librarians and library users from 28 Army libraries. Research tools were the conceptual framework evaluation form and the questionnaire. Statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and content analysis. The research found that:

1. The Conceptual framework of the Army Library Administration consists of 4 tasks: 1) Administrative work 2) Technical work 3) Service work and 4) Public relations

2. Research results on current conditions and desired conditions are divided into two areas: administrative and strategic aspects. Administrative aspect: at present, there is a high level of administrative work in all four tasks according to the administrative framework, and there is a need for the library to perform at this level in the future as well. Strategic aspect: both current and desired conditions give priority to the strategy of protection and upholding monarchy rather than any other strategy. On the other hand, the strategy of strengthening military cooperation with foreign countries has received the least attention.

This research reflects that protecting and upholding the monarchy is an important part of the army, even in the submission of the army, such as library administration, both now and in the future.
