The Study of Desired Personality Traits of Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy Cadets

Personality is one of the most important factors affecting success in human life. This research applied a mixed-method approach to: 1) Study the level of the desirable personality traits of the cadets at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy; and 2) Compare the personal factors that affect these desirable personality traits. Through purposive sampling, 17 cadets in command positions were chosen as key informants. A further 142 cadets were chosen from the 5th year cadets in the 2022 academic year by random sampling. Qualitative data were obtained from brainstorming activity worksheets where content analysis was applied. Quantitative data were obtained from questionnaires and processed through descriptive statistics. Hypotheses were proven by t-test and one-way ANOVA.
The results showed that: 1) Overall, the level of the desirable personality traits of the cadets is high; 2) Cadets who intentionally chose to attend Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, with different levels of pride in being a cadet, possess different desirable personality traits at a .01 statistical significance, while the different nature of upbringing caused the desirable personality traits of cadets to differ at .05 statistical difference. However, differences in awareness of being a cadet did not cause statistically significant differences in the desirable personality traits.
