A Study of Cadets’ Behavior in the Usage of Online Social Media, as Related to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)

This quantitative research aimed to: 1) Study cadets’ behavior in the usage of online social media, as related to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA); 2) Compare their online social media usage behavior, as related to the PDPA; and 3) Compare their knowledge of the PDPA. Stratified sampling was used to select 288 cadets studying in the 2nd to the 5th years. Data was collected through a questionnaire. The study utilized the following analytical tools: frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Statistical hypotheses were tested, using one-way ANOVA, to determine the differences between the sample groups. The study found that: 1) The cadets’ most prevalent behavior in their usage of online social media related to PDPA was for communications; 2) There were no differences in behavior in the usage of online social media, as related to PDPA among cadets in different year groups in different fields; and 3) There were no differences in PDPA knowledge among cadets in different year groups and different fields.
