Abstract

Contemplative education is a learning process that aims to promote an individual’s basic change and public awareness through truth accessible basics. This is suitable for the promotion of the spiritual well-being of nursing students. The basic principles include contemplation, compassion, connectedness, confronting reality, continuity, commitment, and sense of community. It has made nursing students change and developed their life styles, understand their spiritual self, produce positive forces, and create happiness in life, love and kindness. It has also shown to develop acceptance to change, openness to learning and, increase of consciousness, meditation, wisdom, self-awareness and human values. Those individual changes of nursing students’ minds related to good nursing and ethical behavior among nurses. Therefore, nursing institutes must undertake contemplative education to promote spiritual well-being in nursing students so that they can serve health care with a human heart and have spiritual mindfulness when caring for their patients.
