The Development of Training Program on Research Capacity for Private Vocational Teachers Through Empowerment and Participation Approach

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to study the needs of private vocational teachers on research competency training (2) to develop a model of teacher competency training with participatory empowerment and (3) to certify the model of teacher competency training with participatory empowerment. Samples were (1) a total of 326 private vocational teachers selected by stratified random sampling for needs assessment  (2) a total of 15 private vocational teachers selected by purposive sampling for experimental. The research instruments consisted of questionnaire on the needs assessment; research evaluation scale; evaluation form of research competency; test before and after training; assessment form, certification of training model. Statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation. The research shows that (1) The result found that private teachers, training needs are research skills in the classroom, knowledge, understanding of classroom research, and attitude towards classroom research (2) The research competency training model of private vocational teachers with participatory empowerment In general, the quality is at a high level (3) The result of certification of the research competency training model of private vocational teachers with participatory empowerment  in the overall  is at a high level.
