Guidelines for Developing the “SME ACADEMY 365” Online Course to Enhance Awareness and Entrepreneurial Skills in the 21st Century for SME

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the awareness and accessibility of the “SME ACADEMY 365” online course among SME entrepreneurs who are members of the E-learning “SME ACADEMY 365” platform provided by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP). Additionally, the study assessed the impact of knowledge acquired from the course on enhancing SME entrepreneurial skills and proposed approaches to improve the "SME ACADEMY 365" online course. The target group consisted of SME entrepreneurs who are members of the “SME ACADEMY 365” program, with a purposive sampling method selecting 21 respondents. The findings indicated that entrepreneurs primarily accessed the course through the OSMEP website at the highest level. Regarding the impact of acquired knowledge on entrepreneurial skills, leadership skills were rated as the most significant. Problem-solving, digitalization, and communication skills were also highly rated. Furthermore, respondents widely applied the knowledge gained from the course in decision-making, initial business planning, business adaptation, and organizational management. Recommendations include enhancing the website’s efficiency to better meet user needs and fostering key entrepreneurial skills—leadership, problem-solving, digital, and communication—through diverse and inspiring online activities. Additionally, it is suggested to develop a long-term curriculum development is suggested to ensure its relevance, modernization, and diversity.
