Desired Characteristics of Administrators in Primary Schools Providing Intensive Islamic Studies Program in Pattani Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study  are: 1) to analyze the components of the desired characteristics of administrators in primary schools providing    intensive Islamic Studies program in Pattani Province; 2) to study the level of desired characteristics of the administrators in  these schools; and  3) to compare the desired characteristics based on primary educational service area in Pattani, location and school environment .The sample of the study primary school teachers who taught intensive Islamic course in Pattani.. The instrument used in collecting data was questionnaires. The statistical data analysis used in this study included percentage, mean, standard deviation

The results showed that:

1) The desired characteristics of administrators in Primary schools providing intensive Islamic studies program in Pattani province consist of five components:  administrative competency attributes, ethical attributes, personality attributes, leadership attributes, interpersonal relationship attributes.

2) The overall level of desired characteristics of administrators in was high. At individual components, the results were reported to be high.

3) In terms of location and school environment, there were no significant differences among the administrators. The results of this study further showed that there were significant differences among the administrators in terms of ethical component, leadership component, interpersonal relationship component and personality component. As for educational service area, it was revealed that there was no significant difference of the desired characteristics among the educational service areas in Pattani. Individual component analysis however showed that there were significant differences among the administrators on various components, including administrative competency component and personality components.
