Framing ‘Islam’ in the ASEAN community members’ English language newspapers

Abstract

            This paper aims to explicate the importance of how the English language newspaper of ASEAN Community’s member portraying Islam by usage of Framing Analysis and Orientalism theories. Since English language is the official language of Asean Community’s member, therefore, the English newspapers which are reliable sources of information should be brought into consideration to the media researchers, especially Muslim researchers in order to understand how Islam is understood by  the media of Asean community members. If there is any misperception toward Islam there should be a chance for   researchers to propose the actual facts about Islam in order to create correct apprehension among Asean community members.
