Development of Sangyod rice mill towards Good Manufacturing Practices for rice mill (GMP) : A case study of Ban-Khao-Klang Community Enterprise
The objectives of this research were to develop Sangyod rice mill towards good manufacturing practices for rice mill (GMP) and study SWOT analysis. Ban-Khao-Klang Community Enterprise (BCE) was selected as a case study. A Participatory Action Research (PAR) was used in this study. GMP inspections were audited both before and after the process development. Data showed that before the process development, the Sangyod rice mill process failed in the following categories: 1) location and building, 2) maintenance and cleaning, and 3) personnel and sanitary operation. After the process development, Sangyod rice mill was passed all GMP standard categories. Five major steps of Sangyod rice mill were 1) purchasing of paddy, 2) reducing of moisture content, 3) storage of paddy, 4) milling and quality control and 5) packing and storage. The SWOT analysis showed that BCE needs to conduct 10 strategies. The data were showed as following from high to low level: 1) control the quality of products and extension of market, 2) training and visiting other mills for improving of knowledge, 3) provide the good quality of raw material and convenient transportation, 4) provide the worker who can use technology and marketing, 5) reduce the cost of production and adjust the price of product, 6) provide the personnel who can develop the product to meet customer requirement, 7) increase production to meet customer demand, 8) increase the machines to replace labor, 9) provide the technology to prevent natural disasters and 10) increase in the investment and learn how to use of working capital.
