บทคัดย่อ
งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทของหมอเมืองในการส่งเสริมให้ชุมชนพึ่งตนเองด้านสุขภาพ ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักคือ หมอเมืองตำบลดงมะดะ อำเภอแม่ลาว จังหวัดเชียงราย
โดยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกและการสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม ผลวิจัยพบว่า หมอเมืองเป็นผู้ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการส่งเสริมให้ประชาชนในตำบลดงมะดะพึ่งตนเองด้านสุขภาพ
และบทบาทของหมอเมืองแบ่งเป็น 3 ระดับ คือ 1) ระดับบุคคลในฐานะหมอผู้ให้การรักษา 2) ระดับชุมชนในฐานะผู้รู้หรือปราชญ์ของชุมชน และ 3) ระดับสังคมในฐานะผู้มีจิตอาสาและมีส่วนร่วมในการขับเคลื่อนนโยบายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ซึ่งทำให้ชุมชนตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น การนำองค์ความรู้มาจัดการอย่างเป็นระบบและจัดทำเป็นหลักสูตรท้องถิ่น เพื่อให้ชุมชนเกิดความตระหนักรู้ รักและหวงแหนภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นให้ดำรงอยู่เป็นสมบัติของชุมชน และใช้ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นในการพึ่งตนเองด้านสุขภาพ
