Garbage Surveying and Garbage Classification at Bangsaen Beach

Abstract

        The purpose of this study was garbage surveying and classification at the Bangsaen beach for the design and development of garbage collection equipment on the beach. There are three sampling areas of the Bangsaen beach. The total area under investigation was twenty-seven square meters, divided into three random sub-areas, nine square meters each. It had been three days in November 2021 of area sampling. The garbage collection device is a scoop made of a sieve to filter waste out of the sand. Next, the waste of each area was separated and classified into types of waste. Hence, the research shows that there was garbage of 57,010 pieces per day or about 20 million pieces per year on 1,890 square meters of the beach area. There are 20 different types of garbage in sampling areas. The most significant garbage is plastic fiber from the fishing industry, rope or plastic rope. The average volume of garbage is 75.233 pieces or 0.28% of twenty-seven square meters. The results show garbage classification at the Bangsaen beach as a reference for further design and development of the Bangsaen garbage collection equipment and efficient waste collection. Therefore, Bangsaen beach is clean and beautiful as a sustainable tourist attraction.
